Folly Fest Launch Crowd-Funded Grand Theft Bus Limited Edition Live Album Vinyl Release

The news that an album is being conceived, the bare mention of a far-off twinkle in someone’s eye, is rarely the sort of thing to get excited about. Lots of albums have been conceived. I make a habit of conceiving three albums before breakfast. It doesn’t necessarily mean that any of them ever come to fruition, let alone guarantee they are any good. Any sense of excitement usually comes far later in the process.

That being said, I can’t imagine any more magical possible combination of words than: “Folly Fest Launch Crowd-Funded Grand Theft Bus Limited Edition Live Album Vinyl Release.”

The number of times I’ve started a conversation with the sentence “When are Grand Theft Bus going to release something on vinyl?” has probably reached levels of inappropriate fixation. I’ve directed this question repeatedly to band members, studio engineers, festival organizers, and basically anyone capable of a reasonable faculty of communication.

Apparently someone was listening, and the result is even more glorious than I could have imagined.

Combining Grand Theft Bus, one of the most fun, most funky, jam bands to become a staple of Atlantic Canadian festivals, with a live album recording (a first for the band) at Folly Fest (the most suitable of venues), and releasing it all on vinyl through an Indiegogo campaign is about as good as it gets.

The band, who already have five albums  to their name, will have the new live album pressed on limited edition 12″ vinyl.

Grand Theft Bus’s Tim Walker pledges “We promise we’ll tune our guitars and play our very best!”

This will be Grand Theft Bus’s fifth year performing at Folly Fest in Gagetown, New Brunswick. The festival, now in their 11th year, has been central foster stage for the naturally funky of New Brunswick.

Folly Fest takes places from June 28 – 30th, 2019. All profits from the sale of this record will go toward supporting Feels Good Community, a non-profit organization that presents arts events (including Folly Fest) across the Maritimes year-round.
