Single: Sore Loser Makes Their Return With ‘Bravery’

New Glasgow 4-piece Sore Loser are back on the scene after a three-year dry spell with their new single “Bravery.” The tune is an early harbinger to the group’s upcoming album Hurry Up and Wait, which is primed for a January 4th release.

It kind of goes with the whole album I think,” says guitarist Carter MacDonald. “We’ve been working hard on it for a long time and it feels very good to have it coming out.”

Having described their sound as “alternative pop” and “microwave soft rock,” Sore Loser starts their comeback off on the right foot with “Bravery,” a track that guitarist Tristan Stewart describes as “about doing what feels right, regardless of what other people want you to do, and without worrying about what they’ll think.”

The track starts off humbly, with low-key lyrics and gentle strumming alongside modest, yet versatile percussion that ties in with the harmonies of the guitars. The result is a bluesy tune that would fit well in the background of a room with minimal lighting, perhaps with a cup of coffee or tea nearby.

The band then switches to an instrumental chorus with higher energy and lower tempo, which allows them to change up their delivery without deviating from the overall feel that we were introduced to, which goes to show the versatility of microwave soft rock/alternative pop.

Having not released music since 2015, the band is very excited to be coming back onto the scene. As Stewart remarks, “I think we’ve grown a lot and I’m excited for anyone who liked our old music to check out the new stuff! and for people who haven’t heard us at all, you’re right on time.”

“We’re very excited; we’re back!” MacDonald adds.

While the band might be back to releasing new material, they have yet to announce any upcoming shows.
