Living Roots - Ewan Dobson

Living Roots Adds Ewan Dobson To 2018 Lineup & More

Festival-goers have even more to look forward to, as this year’s Living Roots Music Festival have added world-class guitarist Ewan Dobson to their lineup.

Dobson comes to the festival bearing some impressive credentials. The Ontario-born fingerstyle guitarist first won a duo of Grand Prizes from the Burlington Rotary Music Festival and the Pickering Rotary Music Festival in 1996 and 1998, respectively. Since then, he’s gone on to achieve first place at the Canadian Fingerstyle Guitar Competitions, first place at the 4th Montreal Guitar Grand Prix in the acoustic category, and placing third at the 38th International Fingerstyle Guitar Championship.

Currently part of the lineup for the world’s top fingerstyle record label, CandyRat Records, Dobson has twelve albums to his name, four with CandyRat Records and the other eight being self-released.

Dobson’s music is the result of influence from a diverse list of genres. After finding his feet with heavy metal and hard rock, Dobson has since portrayed bluegrass, techno, trance, and even video game music into his acoustic arsenal. Watching his fingers expertly dance around the strings is sure to delight those lucky enough to catch him this year.

Festival organizer Eddie Young is ecstatic for the chance to host the fingerstylist phenomenon.

“Ewan is a world class musician, and never thought I would have the opportunity to host someone like that. I took the chance and asked, he accepted and liked what I was doing,” Young remarked. “I put him on with other instrumental acts, which I think is something we have not seen in Fredericton since Ryan Leblanc and Liam Keith Jaques.”

Also joining the Living Roots lineup are recently announced Fredericton-favourites- from-away and festival regulars, The Vaudevillian, who will bring more unexpected aspects to the festival, such as poetry, storytelling, and even a washboard playing workshop.

Living Roots Music Festival goes from May 24th – 27th, 2018. Passes will be on sale beginning Friday, March 23 at 10 AM at etixnow.com and ticket kiosks located at Grimross Brewery and Graystone Brewery. Separate passes are also available for both the Harvey Station and Keswick Ridge shows and can be purchased directly at the venues.
