Single: Nurture Nurture Create a Community With ‘Lonely Habits’

The newest single from Saint John, New Brunswick’s Nurture Nurture was born of three things: lyricist and frontman Jeff Cook’s journey of sobriety and readjusting to that in a social context, a curious Newfoundland tradition and, presumably, math. The math-rock duo expertly pairs Cook’s guitar noodling to Scott Dincorn’s precision percussion on “Lonely Habits” as they lament the idea of another drink. In Review: ‘The Fifth Wall’ Brings Important Lessons to an Uncertain World

The COVID-19 pandemic has been nothing short of a worldwide disaster. From pole to pole, we’ve seen several businesses come to a close, countless lives lost, and our very way of life altered for what’s sure to be the long run. The losses we’ve experienced from the pandemic will never outweigh the things we’ve gained.

Despite this, there’s something to be said about the introspection opportunities that we’ve been afforded. With that in mind, if any art project is up for the job of addressing these introspections, it has to be The Fifth Wall, the multi-artist project headed by Fredericton theatre artists Corenski Nowlan and Scott Shannon, of Herbert The Cow Productions and Nasty Shadows Theatre Co., respectively. Over the weekend, Saint John local metal legends Elevate The Virus released a new single and lyric video for their track “Ramshackle.” This track brings a deadly arsenal of fine-tuned talent and truly heavy riffs together in perfect harmony. The precision use of arpeggiated melodies and pinpoint drumming in this track brings back memories of early Lamb of God work with a new and refreshing take on the classic heavy metal genre. Single: Tyler Hache Flexes Hard on Historical Fiction with ‘Let the Colours Run’

In the five years since Tyler Hache’s 2015 debut album, Silence, for which he received Music/Musique NB’s award for Solo Recording of the Year, he was also named CBC Searchlight Regional Champion, had his music featured in the film Love Alaska (2019), and four more of his songs were featured in the television drama The Wedding Planners (2020). So, he’s been busy, and all the more busy completing an MA in English in the Field of Creative Writing at the University of Toronto – a fact that becomes all the more apparent when you realize his new single, “Let the Colours Run”, is really a deep dive in historical fiction.
