Music Video: Brandon Voyeur Faces a Crisis of Identity on ‘Not Dead Yet’

Brandon Voyeur is a performance artist. Rather than simply releasing music out in the world and calling it a day, he has manifested a whole larger-than-life persona, a la Thin White Duke. It’s an immolation of character on a level that might make one wonder whether Voyeur wears the role, or the role wears him. It brings into question the whole nature of identity, and who we are from one minute to the next. It may have been a while since we last heard from Brandon Voyeur, as he reminds us with his latest video, he’s “Not Dead Yet”. Single: The Brad Milligan Band Gets Reinvented as Arsenal Mills for Debut ‘Lovesick & Broke’

In the year since we last heard from Brad Milligan and his band, a great many things have changed; none of which particularly include their sound. Single: Owen Meany’s Batting Stance Question the Place of Toxic Masculinity in Sports on ‘The Androgynous Hockey Stick’

Given the inspiration behind the literary namesake of Owen Meany’s Batting Stance, it’s almost surprising we don’t see more sports references from the band.   Then again, Owen Meany was always a very unlikely sports enthusiast; the very nature of the diminutive character proving that we don’t all get to choose our lots in life and some things happen simply as if by some miracle.

Where the subjects of John Irving’s novel overcame some inherent challenges in the sport of basketball, Owen Meany’s Batting Stance takes on the hurdle of toxic masculinity when it comes to hockey on “The Androgynous Hockey Stick”. Single: Chloé Breault Gives Us the Kick We Need in ‘P’tits problèmes’

Ahead of her debut full-length album, Acadian artist Chloé Breault has released the album’s first single, “P’tits problèmes.” Reflecting on the state of mind of everyone who is stuck inside this year and spending far too much time on the internet, the track reminds us not to let the little problems affect our mental health.
