In Review: Theatre Outre’s UNSEX’d

The Saint John Theatre Company is playing host to Lethbridge Alberta’s Theatre Outre and their production of UNSEX’d under the direction of Richie Wilcox. Touring the production are actor Adam Beauchesne, actor/co-writer Jay Whitehead. The two-man comedy explores the lives of two gay actors working in Shakespeare’s theatre company, and the roles they inhabit as the apprentice supplants the master. In Review: SJTC’s The Great Gatsby

As a rule, nothing is ever as good as the book. Tackling F. Scott Fitzgerald’s magnum opus, possibly the great American novel, and filling the shoes of some of literature’s most eminent characters is no small task. One need only look back as recently as Baz Luhrmann’s over-produced, over-hyped, and ultimately disappointing 2013 screen adaptation to see how easy it is to miss the mark. In Review: Saint John Theatre Company’s 937 – The Voyage of the St. Louis

Two years ago, Saint John Theatre Company‘s artistic director Stephen Tobias experienced Two Planks And A Passion Theatre‘s production of 937 – The Spirit of St Louis at the Atlantic FRINGE Festival and knew he wanted to share this experience with the Saint John community. This unique production explores the story of one Jewish family escaping Nazi persecution and is told without words. For the past year, he has worked with the Saint John Jewish Historical Museum and the Anglophone School District – South to produce a two week tour at various schools and several community shows in the greater Saint John area.
