While news has been trickling out since the taping of CBC Radio’s Laugh Out Loud comedy show at KV Billiards in Quispamsis, the official announcement was made today that Something Funny Inc. will be presenting a full blown comedy festival for Southern New Brunswick.

James Mullinger’s Comedy Boot Camp Gets Second Season – Demands Fresh Meat
James Mullinger is no slackard. In terms of the sheer volume of output he might be the hardest working person in the Maritimes. From comedy shows, to fundraisers, to television series, to films, he is going non-stop. I can truthfully say that I have never seen him sleep. The prospect of having him as a drill sergeant seems almost terrifying, if he weren’t so determined to make you laugh. There’s a very real potential to get that firsthand experience though, as James Mullinger’s Comedy Boot Camp is getting a second season on Bell Aliant TV1, and they’re looking for new recruits. Off Grid Ales: Brewery Opens Somewhere Outside of Harvey Station This Week
New Brunswick is seeing a rapidly rising tide in the craft brewing industry, and a resurgence of the traditional public house in the form of the modern taproom. Craft breweries are finding homes in communities, and in turn have been giving communities a home. Their success shouldn’t come as a surprise: they are being embraced as an inherently local product, contributing to a local economy, and often tied to a local arts and culture scene, not to mention an excellent source of beer. As the demand increases we’re beginning to see craft breweries pop-up in some interesting places, including Off Grid Ales; their story is just as much about where they are as what they do. New Music: Deep Fryer EP
Fredericton’s Deep Fryer have released a self-titled debut EP, boasting their title as New Brunswick’s first hardcore and punk crossover super-group. More importantly they’re deserving of the distinction as the group that got Mike Erb (otherwise known as ‘that guy you see everywhere with the camera’) out of the pit and behind a microphone.
