The world is a very different place from what it was just a month ago. COVID-19 has run amok with our social calendars, and the first casualty of the virus was just about every concert and festival planned for the foreseeable future. Not everyone was prepared to take to their isolation in silence. A group of Nova Scotians were determined to have their party, kitchen or no kitchen, and the result has turned into one of the largest celebrations of East Coast music to be found anywhere. Single: Slowcoaster Release ‘Haunt You’, Hint at Plenty of New Material

Slowcoaster, those giants of rivalry, haven’t slowed during the time in isolation. With gigs being cancelled left and right, rather than wallow the band have changed course and taken off at a sprint. Apparently, when left to their own devices in isolation, Slowcoaster have an abundance of energies to pursue weird creative outlets, and more than enough friends to encourage them.

Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire to Broadcast Entire ‘Viens avec moi’ Rock Opera

In 2018, Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire attempted something more ambitious than most band ever attempt: a concept album that gave birth to a theatrical rock opera. The charismatic characters’ larger-than-life stage presence already seemed indiscernible from any stage production spectacle, and their critically-acclaimed album, Viens avec moi, translated perfectly.

In December, 2019, Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire performed the last show of the Viens avec moi tour at the Grand Theatre in Quebec City and, luckily, someone had the foresight to record it all. Music Video: Loviet Flirts with New York City on ‘Everyone Knows’

If we were handing out class superlatives, Loviet would take the category for Most Likely to Become a Wildly Successful Pop Star, particularly if we had all graduated in the class of 1979. Her latest release, “Everyone Knows” is a summer-ready single that might have come straight from golden age of synth-heavy hits; a direct descendant of Debbie Harry and Huey Lewis, and possible a second cousin to Julian Casablancas.
