Rich Aucoin is currently time warping in both directions with his latest video. Known for pushing the envelope with his visuals, Aucoin’s new video for “The Past,” from his LP Release, throws it back to 1975 with a nod to the bright red lips of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, while moving into the future with a fully 360 VR video, shot by Pete Macdonald and edited by AJ King, with the audio spatialized by Kyle Varley, It’s like living in a funhouse Rich Aucoin’s design. Music Video: Rich Aucoin Works out a Dystopian Cure with ‘The Other’

Rich Aucoin has a habit of pushing well past the boundaries of normal and his latest album, Release, seems to be blowing past them entirely. “The Mind,” Aucoin’s first video released from the album featured an alien presence in a familiar but imposing landscape and now “The Other,” the album’s second single, explores the dystopian society of an alien world. It’s almost like Aucoin is telling us that through escapism we might find parables for compassion and tolerance. Music Video: Rich Aucoin’s ‘The Middle’ Animates Song Recreated After Computer Theft In Coast Rica

Rich Aucoin did not have the greatest time in Costa Rica last year. Famously, his laptop was stolen in January, and the better part of a new album disappeared along with it. Originally intending to piece what remained of the album together before recording it in Toronto with plans of releasing it in April of 2017, a four-song EP is now slated for March. ‘The Middle’ is the second track to be released as a video from the Hold EP, and features stop-motion illustrations from animator Meags Fitzgerald, and hovers somewhere around the conundrums between the peaks and middle-age. Music Video: Rich Aucoin’s ‘Release’ Is Classy Yet Meditative

It has been over three years now since Halifax’s Rich Aucoin released Ephemeral, and maybe for good reason. The amount of energy, creative or otherwise, that he’s invested into his projects go above and beyond.
