Our Top Stories of 2019

On the bright side, let’s just say that 2019 has well prepared us for whatever next year might bring. At home, at least where arts and culture are concerned, nothing is literally on fire (but did you see our Top 100 Songs of 2019?). We can be thankful that the most ground shaking news came in the form of a few tremors that rippled through the festival scene as Shambhala announced their change in dates and caused a few festivals across the continent to shift nervously in their wake.  Some festivals were more shook than others.

Peer Review: The Best Art of 2018

Art is tough. Just try it. You probably won’t even know what makes for good art until you’ve overdosed on it at least a few times. Get up close and drink it in. Have a go at it first hand. Get it wrong. Ask questions. Subjective as it may seem, there are experts available who can tell you not only what is good, but also why. Our Top Stories Of 2018

Whatever doesn’t kill you only makes you stronger, right? Or else it cripples the economy, hobbles journalistic credibility, and puts children in cages. 2017 was just the warm-up and 2018 felt like the trial-run that gave us serious doubts about our ability to cope as a species. Next year the best situation we can hope for is probably a Planet of the Apes showdown where Nicolas Cage is our only hope.
