Halifax Pop Explosion Goes Local With Beer Sponsorship

With great events comes great responsibility. Festival organizers and sponsors alike are familiar with the Field Of Dreams business model: if you build it, they will come, and once you have them there you can sell them whatever you want, provided it’s beer. It’s an opportunity for events to secure sponsorship and for sponsors to take advantage of a captive audience. Too often, that means a monopoly being purchased by the company with the deepest pockets, selling their disappointing fizzy rice water at inflated prices to people with no other options. Halifax Pop Explosion: Charles Bradley Announces Cancellation

Halifax Pop Explosion has a lot going for it. This year’s lineup includes Japandoids, Cloud Nothings, Devarrow, Julie (Doiron) & The Wrong Guys, Elliott Brood, Partner, and a bunch of other bands we’re excited to see. But no headliner was more exciting than Charles Bradley.  At least until today, when Bradley announced he will be cancelling his appearance and all upcoming tour dates.

Halifax Pop Explosion Announce Full Line-Up For 2017 Extravaganza

We still haven’t gotten over the headliners that Halifax Pop Explosion have announced for their 2017 music extravaganza. The 25th anniversary seems to mean the festival is pulling out all the stop. They’ve already announced the likes of Charlotte Day Wilson, Clairmont The Second, Ria Mae, Tasha The Amazon, Weaves, Charles Bradley & His Extraodinarires, Cloud Nothings, Patrick Watson, and Japandoids along with comedian Wyatt Cenac. Halifax Pop Explosion Announce Impressive 2017 Headliners

Halifax Pop Explosion, an unquestionable staple of the arts in Atlantic Canada, is celebrating 25 years as an annual gathering for fans of independent music. The festival has not only brought talented performers from a plethora of genres, and locations, to the east coast but has also helped to establish a yearly conference in Halifax which benefits both people new to the music industry, as well as those looking to build on their years of experience. SNAP! CRACKLE! HALIFAX POP EX 2016!

It would seem that the attendees of this year’s Halifax Pop Explosion had silently taken a mail carriers vow before the festivities started on Wednesday. Through sun and rain (and wind and cold and near tropical humidity levels in the Forum and was that snow for a second there?) crowds appeared at the various stages to laugh, dance, mosh and shuffle their feet back and forth awkwardly, to the talent provided.
