ECMAs Reverse Decision—Cancel 2020 Music Awards and Conference Amid COVID-19 Concerns

This morning, the East Coast Music Association announced they are cancelling the 2020 East Coast Music Awards due to growing concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2020 Canadian Folk Music Awards Cancel Over COVID-19 Concerns

The 2020 Canadian Folk Music Awards, which were scheduled to happen in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, next month, have just announced the event has been cancelled this year. The festival is the latest to join a growing list of events, including SXSW, Coachella and the JUNO Awards, to either cancel or postpone due to concerns for the COVID-19 pandemic. 2020 East Coast Music Awards Still A Go In Newfoundland Amidst COVID-19 Pandemic

With the WHO officially declaring COVID-19 a pandemic, we’ve quickly discovered another casualty of coronavirus: festival season. Major events like SXSW, Coachella, and the JUNO Awards have become the proverbial canaries in the coal mine, leading the list of festival already announced their cancellation or rescheduling. Despite the growing list of festivals to be effected by the virus, the East Coast Music Association have said there are no plans to cancel their 2020 awards show and conference happening in St. John’s, Newfoundland from April 29 to  May 3.
