Sobeys came to dominate the Christmas commercial market twenty-nine years ago with the release of their ‘Star Of Christmas’ video. It kicked off the holiday season, always wedging itself firmly between A Garfield Christmas and A Charlie Brown Christmas, and probably again during commercial breaks of Bill Murray’s Scrooged, which we can’t be certain of because we were never allowed to stay up late enough to watch. NSLC Respond To Big Spruce Brewing’s Open Letter

Recently, Jeremy White of Cape Breton-based Big Spruce Brewing published an open letter airing his beefs with the Nova Scotia Liquor Corporation. In the letter, White cites ten very specific complaints regarding how the current bureaucracy is handling the growing craft beer industry, ranging from limiting the size of their glassware to the use of unconstitutional mark-ups (or what most people would refer to as taxes). EBT: Hops Farmers Disguised As A Quartet Disguised As A Trio Announce Tour

If you’ve ever mistaken Earthbound Trio for a bunch of dirty hippies, just know that they come by it honestly. The ‘Funky Farmer’ tagline isn’t just a bit of alliteration, but a full time day job. For years now the trio~ have toiled away, growing that most precious of leafy greens that is praised by hippies and hipsters alike: hops. In recognition of another successful growing season the band have announced their upcoming ‘Hops, Skip And A Jump’ Tour which will take them to craft breweries all across the Maritimes.
