GroundSwell Music Festival Rebrands As Into The Night — Announces 2018 Headliners

GroundSwell Music are changing things up as they rebrand their annual GroundSwell Music Festival as Into The Night. For the third year, the Nova Scotia-based record label will be hosting their two-day takeover of Olympic Hall in Halifax on the St. Patrick’s Day weekend. The event kicks off on March 16th, 2018 with some surprise Juno-nominee headliners.

“We have a new name, a new logo and a refreshed look and feel. ‘GroundSwell Music Festival’ has gone. ‘Into The Night Music Festival’ has picked up the mantle and we’re running with it!” says Festival Producer Caroline Murphy.

“The festival has been given a new name and visual identity as we wanted our 2018 festival to feel less corporate and more fun. One clear way to help us communicate this is to rebrand. While our old name served its purpose, we have grown as a festival and we want people to be part of this new journey with us. Into The Night evokes a sense of mystery and mischief. Our festival-goers can write their own story!”

“Previous years we’ve had a traditional/Celtic night but we found ourselves being pulled in too many directions. This year we’ve kept our focus on punk/rock/indie/pop and it has allowed us to consolidate our efforts and deliver one hell of a weekend! We have, however, expanded our programming in other ways this year. We will be hosting a record fair (with BEER garden) at Olympic Hall and an underage show at The Pavilion. At the end of the day, our goal remains the same: we want to provide affordable live music that inspires people. We just want everyone to have fun and forget about the stresses of life for one friggin’ weekend!”

“We get to partner with local businesses, young entrepreneurs and talented musicians, which really excites us. There is a real sense of community around this festival and you feel that from the moment you walk through the doors of Olympic Hall. We want to create an unforgettable experience for our festival goers and we wouldn’t be able to do this without the support of the local community. We’ve got two incredible headliners coming to town and we’re super pumped to see The Town Heroes and Like A Motorcycle up there with them!”

The headliners in question are Ontario’s Juno-nominated The Flatliners and Juno Award-winning Said The Whale from Vancouver. They’ll be joined by east coast favourites The Town Heroes and Like A Motorcycle for an exciting St Patrick’s Day weekend. More bands are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
