East Coast Music Awards 2018

East Coast Music Awards — Second Wave Of 2018 Performers Includes Sloan And More

Remember the pre-Arcade Fire golden era of Canadian pop music? When artists like Alanis Morissette, Our Lady Peace and Great Big Sea ruled our CanCon-saturated airwaves? No need, because it’s coming back for you! The East Coast Music Awards have announced their second wave of performers for their 2018 Awards Show and at the top of the bill are Halifax superstars Sloan.

I mean, we’re talking a band whose song ‘Money City Maniac’s was featured on Much Music’s Big Shiny Tunes 3 (arguably the best of the Big Shiny Tunes: a series of albums that was once widely recognized to be the benchmark for music in Canada).

The announcement came January 17th that the Juno Award-winning act would be joining the line-up, along with Measha Brueggergosman, Rose Cousins, The East Pointers, Port Cities, Quake Matthews, Kinley, Makayla Lynn and City Natives. They join previously-announced acts Joel Plaskett, Universal Soul, Barra MacNeils, Les Hay Babies and The Once.

“We are tremendously excited to have such an eclectic group of artists helping us celebrate the 30th anniversary of the East Coast Music Awards,” says Andy McLean, Executive Director of the ECMAs. “Kicking off the week with a bang, the Awards Show presents an incredible opportunity for fans, musicians and industry professionals to celebrate the legacy and the future of east coast music together.”

The East Coast Music Association are expected to announce their 2018 award nominees later this month on Monday, January 29th, 2018.

The East Coast Music Awards will be taking place on Thursday, May 3rd, 2018, at the Scotiabank Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
