Shivering Songs Announce Additional Line-Up & Neil Young Tribute

Shivering Songs: Fredericton’s annual winter festival have just announced that they will be expanding their 2016 line-up. Not only will the festival feature several additional bands, but will also be featuring a tribute to Neil Young.

The festival, which takes places January 19-22, had already made an announcement last month of several big names the will be performing, including Basia Bulat, LUKA, Jim Bryson, Justin Rutledge, The Wooden Sky and Donovan Woods, Rose Cousins, Lydia Mainville, with The Hypochondriacs once again be performing their Grand Ole Opry, as well as festival originators The Olympic Symphonium making an appearance.

Shivering Songs announced this morning that they will be making several impressive additions to the festival: WHOOP-Szo, Museum Pieces, Sorrey, JOYFULTALK, Roxy and the Underground Soul Sound, Tomato/Tomato, Cellarghost, The Everywheres, Dan Misha Goldman, Hum & Hollow, Hillsburn, Bad People and Some Dads.

The organizers have also planned Saturday night at the Boyce Farmers’ Market as an ode to Canadian legend Neil Young as the festival will be reviving a beloved tribute to the old man, curated by The Olympic Symphonium. The night will also feature original music from headliners The Wooden Sky.

“We’re thrilled by the diversity of this announcement,” said Festival co-organizer, Zach Atkinson. “From tremendous touring acts like Whoop-Szo and the recently reunited Museum Pieces, through to some of the most buzz-worthy artists our region has to offer in JOYFULTALK and Sorrey, this truly is an exciting group of artists,” he said. “We couldn’t be happier about the schedule we’ve assembled to perform for our community.”

As per tradition, the festival will feature several workshop components as part of the activities. Dubbed ‘This Is Your Brain On Music’, the first of this year’s workshops will be hosted by Jim Bryson, JOYFULTALK, and neurologist and Dalhousie Medical School professor Dr. Wendy Stewart in a unique demonstration on Friday at the Fredericton Public Library. Bryson will also be hosting the annual songwriting intensive workshop at the Charlotte Street Arts Centre. Finally, Tomato/Tomato will be hosting Shivering Songs’ annual Songwriters & Storytellers afternoon at Wilmot United Church.

Shivering Songs takes place January 19th through 22nd in Fredericton, New Brunswick. Tickets and passes are now on sale for Shivering Songs 2017 online at www.shiveringsongs.com and at the Etixnow kiosks located at Graystone Brewing and Isaac’s Way.
