Jont Openheart Releases Single In Advance Of ‘An Old Innocence’

Despite the amount of music that passes across my desk, dance parties are few and far between around here. It’s just not the sort of thing we go in for all that often, and when they do happen it’s strictly an involuntary flailing of limbs. Jont & The Infinite Possibility have that quality of being infectiously dancy, and their new single is the stuff radio play dreams are made of.

‘Someone To Love Me’ is being released this week, both as a three-piece single and a video. Naturally, it comes with two other songs, which we might listen to someday if we ever stop hitting the repeat button.

The video features Jont waltzing through the streets of Rome with a swagger possessed only by handsome lanky Englishmen full of the self-confidence that comes with the knowledge that they once built an empire that spanned the globe. Like Rhys Ifans’ younger brother, but without the air of a double-edged blade. It makes you want to develop a tea drinking habit and simultaneously a severe disdain for it.

Jont is currently making the former city of Halifax his home after a life of circle dancing with strangers in far off lands following the sudden discovery of his own state of fatherhood. The Infinite Possibility is his first serious attempt at a band this side of the pond. Recorded with Howard Bilerman (Arcade Fire) and Joel Plaskett (lanky Canadian), ‘Someone To Love Me’ is the kick-off to the full album ‘An Old Innocence’ due out later this year.

The singles are being released via iTunes on April 22nd, and Jont will be touring through the Maritimes, Ontario, and Quebec over the next month.
